Next MotoGP Grand Prix Bharat will be host by India | Likely to be held in 2023

The talk about soon bringing the World’s Premier Two-Wheeled Motosport to India is underway.

 

Dorna Sports was excited to announce that they have begun working on bringing MotoGP Grand Prix to the sub-continent. They have targeted to get the FIM MotoGP World Championship to the Indian Subcontinent soon.

 

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, recently visited India to meet the authorities. He also met event promoter Fairstreet Sports after signing the MoU. The meeting was held at the Buddh International Circuit, situated on the outskirts of New Delhi. Also, it is assumed to be a target venue to host the event. 

 

The authorities also traveled to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital, to meet UP’s Chief Minister, Mr. Yogi Adityanath, and Industrial Development Minister, Mr. Nand Gopal “Nandi,’ to talk about the circuit.

 

Finally, the visit concluded with a presentation to New Delhi’s local media, a representative of the motorcycling industry, and promoter Fairstreet Sports. This showed the enormous expectation India has from the MotoGP.  

 

During the Interview, Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna’s CEO, said that India is a huge country and market that plays a significant role in the two-wheeled industry and MotoGP as a sport. A large part of the fanbase comes from India. Therefore, holding the Championship in this country would be incredible for their fans as it will allow them to continue the sport within the region. It is equally significant for our partners and manufacturers in particular.

 

In MotoGP, they are committed to their fans and want to make the sport accessible to everyone, no matter where they are, who they are, or their economic situation. Motorcycles are an excellent means of transportation and an engine of society in many regions of the world, providing economic mobility and supporting families worldwide. Racing in India will be a demonstration of our commitment to open the door to the game as much as possible and will be a massive win for the tournament.

 

During the Fairstreet Sports Team meeting, Union Sports Minister Shri Anurag Thakur said it was a historic day for both the sporting and automobile industries. It befitted tribute to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. He also said that India could become one of the biggest MotoGP markets regarding viewership and revenue.

 

Mr. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said it is a matter of great pride for Uttar Pradesh to host such a globally prestigious mega-sports event. This event will boost the hospitality and tourism sector and put UP on the global platform. He further said that the government would provide all the necessary support to make this event a huge success.

Shri Nand Gopal, “Nandi”, Uttar Pradesh Government Industry Development Export Promotion Minister, NRI, Investment Promotion, said the event would benefit not only motorcycling but als racing enthusiasts will also greatly boost the economy by generating an influx of foreign investment and ushering in advancement in the passenger transport industry, making it a preferred destination for global investment and OEMs, in Uttar Pradesh.
